i couldn’t agree more with “could care less”. it drives me nuts when athletes use it wrong.

the other one is “i would just as soon”. vermeil misused it ALL the time.

and of course when people mistake irony for coincidence. don’t even get me started on that.

Seriously? Their Mionet won’t let you share externally? I thought that was the point of it!!

Hmm. Honestly, I don’t really know. I didn’t buy it with the intent of sharing it out, so I haven’t played with that aspect of it much. I got it to map to a drive letter without their bullshit, so I stopped tinkering.

I know, bad geek, bad geek.

Anyway, while I don’t know much about it (or your pc/network configuration) what I can tell you is that I can’t think of an easy way to do it the way I am set up. I have a router and 3 PC’s, and I use earthlink DSL – which means that I have one IP address that gets shared out between my internet connected devices.

So theoretically, if I had my firewall and router configured correctly, I could share out the drive through windows using the IP address, but since I only have one IP address for all of the devices connected to the internet through my router, I have no way (that I know of) of directing the incoming connection to the proper device. If someone tried to access my IP directly they would essentially be trying to access my router… right?

If we take the router out of the equation, though, and connected 1 PC directly to the DSL modem (like many people with 1 computer do,) theoretically I could use a crossover cable to connect the drive to the PC and then share out that drive letter on the computer.

But all that is really pretty theoretical, and it would require dismantling my network setup to try, so I haven’t tried it.

Probably doesn’t help you much – sorry. If I come across anything else I’ll post again.

Do you know a way to let remote people share your disk (I just bought same one)without using their propriatary mionet software? Mionet software will not allow external sharing of AVI, MPG, etc. files.
do you have a solution?
