Only in saint louis.

Monday was the last day of our vacation. Technically we came back in town on sunday, but we took monday off to recover and run some errands.

We took my car to the shop to have the damage from the accident with the 18 wheeler repaired, picked up the rental car, went to the bank, dealt with the termite guy, and dealt with the geeksquad. Finally we headed to south county mall to do a little shopping.

As we turned onto Lindbergh, I couldn’t believe my eyes: a rather large fellow was cruising down Lindbergh in his motorized wheelchair.

I would have taken a picture, but there was too much traffic on the road.

That’s right. There was too much traffic on the road for me to take a picture, but apparently not enough traffic to deter a guy in a motorized wheelchair from taking it out onto Lindbergh.

I love STL.

The wonders of technology

It’s 5:30 (local time), and I’m sitting in our hotel room in Indiana getting ready to head out for night two of DMB at Deer Creek.

Half an hour ago, the download of last night’s recording completed. The show ended 18 hours ago and I have the recording already thanks to the kickass tapers and the hotel’s wifi. How fucking cool is that??

Last night’s show was pretty kick ass. I’m not going to do a song-by-song review, but I will say that #41, Bartender, and The Maker alone were all worth the price of admission. #41 was probably the best I’ve ever seen. Set was Big Whiskey heavy (as it is every album promotion year), but that definitely isn’t a bad thing. It’s so nice when the new material doesn’t suck.

It would have been nice if they played a full Shotgun instead of the abridged tease, but maybe we’ll get it tonight. It’s fantastic to think that we could feasibly get shotgun, dreaming tree, crush, seek up, et cetera all in one set tonight. It will probably come at the cost of smooth rider, but I can live with that.

I’m glad we decided to see a few shows other than saint louis this year. The band sounds so good right now and they’re having so much fun on stage that I think we definitely would have regretted not going to more.

Tonight should be a good one – here’s hoping!
